About Elissa O'Sullivan

Elissa O’Sullivan has been a Private practice Animal Behaviorist since 1993 and an Obedience instructor since 1995.

Elissa is a 100% force-free trainer. Elissa follows LIMA. [What is LIMA?]

Through positive reinforcement, Elissa focuses on strengthening the human-animal bond using evidence-based animal learning theory. These methods work with rather than against the natural instincts of the dog.

Elissa is a Certified AKC Canine Good Citizen and STAR Puppy evaluator. She is the recommended Behaviorist for many rescue organizations.

Elissa has owned and/or trained many of the wonderful therapy dogs who visit all kinds of facilities. She has also trained and/or owned many of the top competition obedience dogs in the country.  Some of these dogs have even appeared in various print ads and television commercials!

Long-term community involvement includes:

  • Dog Rescue Volunteer/Foster Home (1997 – present)

  • Westerville North High School Therapy Dog volunteer (2010 – present)

Elissa has a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Texas Tech University in Lubbock Texas

Fun Facts

Elissa is pronounced like Melissa without the M.

Elissa likes to run agility barefoot!

Elissa maintains a countdown to spring. (She doesn’t like cold weather!)

On an almost daily basis, Elissa tries to appease her cat, Gibbon, with offerings of various boxes.
