Agility with Dr. Roger
CORE CLASSES are always on the schedule. Current students get first opportunity to continue in the same class each session until they graduate to the next level class or choose not to continue.
SPECIALITY CLASSES are added to the schedule based on demand. Students in the specialty classes are not automatically re-enrolled.
Unless otherwise noted all classes are taught by Dr Roger O’Sullivan and cost $120 which includes 6 classes, each class is scheduled for 90 minutes.
CORE CLASSES
-
Agility Equipment
This class is open to dogs who are at least 16 months old.
The class teaches the dog to successfully navigate all agility obstacles.
Dogs begin this class with no agility experience or exposure to agility equipment. Dogs graduate from this class only when they perform all obstacles with confidence! This foundation is very important and often requires multiple sessions.
This class is limited to 6 dogs.
-
Agility Handling Skills
This is the next class for graduates of the Beginner - Agility Equipment Class (or equivalent.) Dogs must be at least 16 months old and able to perform all obstacles at full height with confidence. This includes successfully completing 6 (preferably 12) weaves poles.
The dog and handler develop into a team, working together to navigate the agility course. Experienced handlers can benefit from this class when learning to work with their new dog.
-
Agility Skill Sets
This class provides three short (twelve obstacle) courses for teams to run. Multiple runs on the shorter courses provide opportunities to try different handling choices.
Teams may already be competing though not necessarily at the highest levels.
-
Agility Skills & Courses
In this class handling skills are refined through short drills and then practiced on full length (15 - 18 obstacles) courses.
-
Master-Level Agility Courses
Two master-level courses are provided. Each team runs each course two times. This provides the opportunity to try different handling techniques or focus on particular skills as desired.
SPECIALTY CLASSES
-
Puppy Exploration
Taught by Animal Behaviorist Elissa O’Sullivan, this class is open to all puppies under 16 months.
The basis for most issues with adult dogs is lack of confidence. This puppy class doesn’t teach specific skills (like sit and down), but rather teaches puppies to explore their world. They will get to climb on things that move and will gain confidence through play and shaping.
Please note there is no playtime.
Cost is $120 for six classes; each class lasts 60 minutes.
-
AKC Agility Premier Courses
The focus of this class is developing and refining the skills necessary to successfully complete AKC premier courses. A skill or two will be introduced each class and then practiced in small skill set. Examples of skills to be taught include backsides, pull thrus, threadles, and serpentines. Also includes weave pole and distance challenges.

Agility from Your Dog's Perspective
How does your dog feel about your handling?
Class runs will be videotaped and then analyzed by Animal Behaviorist, Elissa O’Sullivan, to answer this question!
